About AFCEA Türkiye
AFCEA
Türkiye is a branch of Armed Forces Communication and Electronics Association
International (AFCEA) which is headquartered in Washington D.C., USA.
AFCEA
Türkiye, per the request of General Forces Command and Ministry of Defense, was founded
in 1989 based upon the decision by the Council of Ministers.
The
objective of AFCEA Türkiye is to provide a common forum to help exchange information
regarding command control, communication, information systems and intelligence,
electronics and all related fields, among government offices, universities and industrial
organizations for the purpose of improving the national electronics industry.
Based
upon the objective mentioned above, the association conducts various national and
international symposiums, seminars and conferences, and fairs. There is also a publication
called SIGNAL which is sent to members free of charge. Members also benefit from discount
as they participate in national and international activities (fairs, seminars, etc.)
organized by AFCEA.
All
persons and companies operating in the field of communications and electronics can apply
for the membership. The association has been approved as a scientific purpose association
by the Ministry of Defense. Members of the Turkish Armed Forces can be members by
permission.
Areas
of activities of AFCEA Türkiye is as follows:
To
promote dialog between its members and other related parties and organizations on security
and military preparedness matters.
To
support the maintenance of strong international alliances to ensure free word security,
e.g. NATO.
To
promote procedural and technical interoperability of the C4I and related systems employed
by free world military forces, including civil systems used by them.
To
help improve the national electronics industry and to establish close relations with the
universities, users and industrial organizations on the technical matters.
To
bring to the attention of the membership through chapter meetings and the AFCEA
publications, the importance of cooperation among industry, military, and civilian
government.
AFCEA
Türkiye, held the first general assembly meeting on February 2, 1991 when the
establishment stage was completed, has been continuing to operate affectively. The
targeted actions are as follows:
To
organize meetings in which members and civilian government personnel will exchange
information regarding communication and electronics.
To
provide up to date information to members and to organize a discussion forum in
communication and electronics by inviting qualified scientists from universities,
government agencies and from abroad.
To
organize seminars, panels, conferences in order to follow technological advances in
communication and electronics.
To
inform the European and American AFCEA centers about the activities of AFCEA Türkiye and
publish these activities in their journals, therefore contributing to the promotion of
Türkiye in the International arena.
AFCEA
Türkiye is organized exclusively for non-profit, educational, and scientific purposes. It
has no political interests or alliances.
No part of the net earnings of AFCEA Türkiye shall insure to the benefit of, or
distributed to its members, Directors, officers, or other private persons.
